Shardfall is the biggest thing we have shipped, and the first season where nobody loses their base. Here is what changed, why, and what breaks.
Season 3 ended with 41,000 claimed chunks and a lot of very nervous builders. We said we would not wipe them. We did not wipe them. Every core you placed in Season 3 was migrated overnight on 23 July, and if yours did not come across, that is a bug and support will restore it.
The shard economy
Crystal shards now back everything: shops, town upkeep, cosmetic dye and the auction house. They drop from the new fall veins, from boss clears, and from selling to villagers at a deliberately bad rate so that player shops stay worth using.
What this breaks
Old diamond-denominated shops still work but will not be topped up by the server. Convert stock at the exchange in spawn before 15 August. After that the exchange closes and diamonds are just diamonds again.
If your Season 3 claim did not migrate, open a support ticket with your username and rough coordinates. We have snapshots and we can put it back.
